AMERICAN COUNTIES’ AMBASSADORS MET C.M SINDH
KARACHI
JUNE 03: A delegation of Latin American Ambassadors belonging
to Cuba, Argentina, Brazil & Mexico today called on
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah at Chief Minister
House.
Welcoming the Ambassadors, Chief Minister Sindh highlighted
the bilateral relations between Pakistan and four Latin
American countries, and emphasized the need to further
strengthen and improving the relations among each other.
He said that during the 70’s probably in 1974, when
Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was the Prime Minister, there
were very close relations between Pakistan & Argentina
while Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto had very close friendship
with head of Argentina.
Chief Minister Sindh maintained that Sindh Province is
an important province of Pakistan having rich natural
resources including coal, granite, agriculture productions,
orchards, oil, gas, and also a vast belt of sea shore
with big quantity of fish and sea food; and main factor
of manpower. Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that Karachi is the
largest city of Pakistan having population of 17 million
souls with two prominent ports.
He said that there is need to further enhance ties for
more support and cooperation in the fields of trade and
industry. He also termed exchange of cultural delegations/programmes
as an important role together with furtherance of commodities
in agricultural sector. Syed Qaim Ali Shah also stressed
to find out ways and strategy for better cooperation so
as to improve socio-economic conditions of Sindh province.
Chief Minister added that the provincial Government will
provide all types of incentives, and facilities to intending
investors so as to attract the investment here. He also
stressed the need to exchange various delegations including
trade, business, industrial, cultural and other teams;
which will create atmosphere of more understanding and
attract investments in various fields.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that present Government has made
emphasis on maintenance of law & order in the province,
and Karachi being the industrial zone, has been kept on
strict watch so that peaceful atmosphere and healthy environment
is provided for provision of employment and economic upliftment
which is essential for alleviation of poverty, he said.
Renowned industrialists-cum-politician Mr. Haleem Siddiqui
and General Secretary PPP Sindh Mr. Nafees Siddiqui also
highlighted measures adopted by the Government for attraction
of investors in Pakistan particularly in Sindh Province
as raw material is available in abundance here, and steps
are to be taken in this direction.
The Latin American Ambassadors thanked the Chief Minister
for hospitality and assured that joint efforts will be
made for betterment in the fields of industries, agriculture
fishing, dairy farming and allied subjects aimed at to
strengthen the economic ties. Ambassadors included Mr.
Gustavo Machin Gomez of Cuba, Mr. Rodolfo J. Martin –
Saravia of Argentina, Mr. Carlos Eduardo Sette Camara
Da Faonseca Costa of Brazil and Mr. Arturi Hernande Bassave
of Mexico and others.

MAY 28: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said
that Pakistan People’s Party is fully committed
to the independence of Journalism, and present Government
has abolished all such rules and regulations which were
abolished and finished.
This he observed while talking to a 12-member delegation
of Karachi Press Club led by President Mr. Najeeb Ahmed,
which met with Chief Minister Sindh at Chief Minister
House today.
He said that the Government was efforting to solve the
problems and grievances of the Journalists, and promoting
Journalism and media in the country. Syed Qaim Ali Shah
further said that problems of accommodation and others
etc will also be solved. He maintained that Karachi Press
Club is one of the important clubs of Pakistan, whereas
the Journalists of this club had played a vital role for
restoration of democracy, upholding the Human rights,
highlighting the grievances and problems of people and
timely flash of news items / reports to newspapers and
media.
Chief Minister also inquired the problems from office
bearers and members of the club. He assured that the development
work on Journalist Colony at Hawksbay scheme of Lyari
Development Authority will be completed soon, and the
possession of plots allotted to members of Press Club
will be handed over. He also accepted the invitation to
attend Golden Jubilee Celebrations of KPC, and said that
he will participate the celebrations after performance
of Umra. With regard to implementation of agreement in
connection with ownership rights of present press club
building, he said that the concerned parties will be called
and bottlenecks and hindrances will be resolved.
The delegation included Najeeb Ahmed, Saeed Sarbasi, Muhammad
Imtiaz Faran, Muhammad Anwar Khan, Aamir Latif, Asif Kazi,
Bilqees Jehan, Javed Jiaja, Shaikh Mehmood Mian and Shams
Keerio.
