MINISTER SINDH DISPATCHED RELIEF ASSIGNMENT FOR EARTHQUAKE
VICTIMS OF CHINA AT KARACHI AIRPORT.
KARACHI MAY 23: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah
today dispatched relief assignment for earthquake victims
of China in a flight of Singapore Airline for Beijing
at Terminal No.1, Quaid-e-Azam International Airport.
Today, 2500 tents were dispatched to China while in all
12000 tents are to be sent, out of which 6000 tents are
being sent from Islamabad.
Ambassador of People Republic of China Mr. LON ZHAOHIR
and Maj. General Farooq of Disaster Management Authority,
officials of Chinese Consulate and Local Officers were
also present. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister
Sindh said that China and Pakistan are two brother countries
and have assisted & helped in all times of crisis.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah expressing his sorrows on demise &
destructions in China termed it as loss of people of Pakistan.
He on behalf of Government and people of Pakistan assured
the Government and people of China that we will be together
at every challenge.
Later, talking to media, Chief Minister Sindh said that
Government has launched campaign against those traders
and businessmen who are indulged in hoarding, black marketing
and profiteering. He added that target of procurement
of wheat has been completed while the private traders
have also been allowed to purchase wheat from International
Market. Syed Qaim Ali Shah further added that strict measures
are being adopted for maintenance of law & order in
the province.

DELEGATION FOR SOUTH ASIA REGION, WORLD BANK MET WITH
C.M SINDH.

MAY 26: A high power delegation led by Vice President
for South Asia Region, World Bank Mr. Praful C. Patel
held a meeting with Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali
Shah at Chief Minister House this afternoon.
Chief Minister Sindh apprised the delegation that present
elected Government will fully follow the manifesto of
Party; and problems of Employment, Education, Energy,
Environment & Equality faced to the masses will be
addressed on priority. Syed Qaim Ali Shah appreciated
the assistance programme of World Bank, particularly in
education, water, health and power sectors.
He said that Shaheed Quaid Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto had
initiated power project for Sindh at the estimated cost
of $8 billion so as to erect the power plant of generating
5000 megawatt power, but the same was left unattended,
with the result, not only the country but prominently
the province of Sindh, where industrial sector is badly
affected. Chief Minister Sindh highlighted the importance
of Thar Coal reserves and stressed that by establishing
power plants, the power crisis in the country will be
solved which will end un-employment from area and will
bring prosperity and pace of development. Vice President
for South Asia Region, World Bank said that World Bank
will fully assist in projects of furtherance of Education
& Strengthening & improving Irrigation system
in Sindh, while it will fully support in other sectors
like health etc. He said that previously, project under
Sindh development forum was launched in the year 2001
and now the similar programme will be revived so as to
achieve the targets of development in the province of
Sindh.
Senior Minister Education Pir Mazharul Haq emphasized
that the province is lacking in the sectors of Education
& Health specially in rural areas. Chief Secretary
Sindh Mr. Fazal-ur-Rehman also emphasized the need to
pay attention on social sector together with special attention
towards power generation.
World Bank team stressed the need to ensure progress of
community as, the other schemes are also implemented on
matching grants i.e community / Government of Sindh has
to bear 50% expenses of the projects.
The team assured complete support for various schemes.
The meeting was attended by Senior Minister Education
