GOVERNMENT FORMS COAL-POWER FACILITATION BOARD –
C.M SINDH WILL BE THE CHAIRMAN.
KARACHI
MAY 17: A high level meeting was held today under the
chairmanship of Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah
at Chief Minister House this afternoon.
The meeting discussed matters pertaining to the development
of Coal-based power projects in view of the decision of
Federal Government thereby granting autonomy and authority
in this regard to Sindh Government. It was decided to
form a “COAL POWER FACILITATION BOARD” with
Chief Minister Sindh as its Chairman and Federal Minister
for water & Power, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission,
Railway Minister and other representatives from Federal
and Sindh Governments.
It may be recalled that the Chief Minister Sindh Syed
Qaim Ali Shah on behalf of Sindh Government had presented
the case in detail about autonomy of coal fields of Thar,
and it was agreed by Prime Minister of Pakistan Syed Yousif
Raza Gilani alongwith Federal Cabinet and was decided
that the provincial government has the jurisdiction and
authority to proceed coal mining as far as the power generation
is concerned. The Provincial Government & Ministry
Water & Power may jointly prepare strategy in this
regard.
The meeting was attended by Sindh Secretary for Mines
& Mineral Development Mr. Younis Dhaga; Principal
Secretary to Chief Minister Syed Sohail Akbar Shah, Special
Secretary to Chief Minister Agha Akhtar Jan and others.

CONSUL
GENERAL OF GERMANY CALLS ON CHIEF MINISTER, SINDH.
KARACHI
MAY 17: The Consul General of the Federal Republic of
Germany Mr. Hans – Joachim Kiderlen today called
on Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah at Chief Minster
House. He discussed matters of mutual interest with Chief
Minister Sindh. Syed Qaim Ali Shah informed him about
historical background, cultural and traditional aspects
of province of Sindh. He informed that Sindh is rich as
far as natural resources are concerned, while agriculture
is main economic source of province.
Chief Minister further informed that there are opportunities
of investment in various sectors, and intending investors
are approaching for various projects and schemes, and
all required facilities are being provided to them. Consul
General of Germany thanked the Chief Minister for warm
welcome. Chief Minister also presented traditional gifts
of Ajrak & Sindhi cap to him.

HELATH
DEPARTMENT SHOULD PLAY VITAL ROLE TO COMBAT TREND OF EPIDEMICS
– POLIO AND CHOLERA – CHIEF MINISTER SINDH.

MAY 20: Polio is injurious and dangerous for human life
and it is endeavour of present Government to eradicate
the same from our province at all costs. This was stated
by Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah while talking
to media on the occasion of POLIO FREE WALK organized
by People’s Doctor’s Forum, Karachi Division
from Chief Minister House to Karachi Press Club this morning.
Syed Qaim Ali Shah added that he had taken serious notice
of some reported cases of Polio in some districts of Sindh
and warned the officers of Health Department to overcome
the lapses and pay full attention to control the occurrence
of any new case. He said that no any negligency will be
tolerated in this regard.
Chief Minister Sindh also took serious notice of cholera
cases in Mirpurkhas Division as reported in newspapers,
and directed the authorities of Health Department to fully
arrange campaign against Cholera in Sindh particularly
the Mirpurkhas division. He further directed the Health
Department that the Provincial Health Department should
take such stock of the situation, ensure appropriate measures
to counter the prevailing trend of spread of diseases
and submit a detailed report in the matter within one
week.

Marri, Advisor to Chief Minister for Political Affairs
Rashid Rabbani, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Waqar

Secretary to Chief Minister Syed Sohial Akbar Shah, Dr.
Karim Khawaja President Peoples Doctors Forum, officers
of various departments and doctors of Forum participated
in walk.
The participants were raising slogans of Jeeay Bhutto,
Jeeay Shaheed Benazir Bhutto, Pakistan Peoples Party Zindabad.
The walk started from Chief Minister House and ended at
Karachi Press Club. Walk was also participated by Lady
doctors of PDF and lady workers of PPP.
