KARACHI JULY 29: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has taken serious notice of reported out break of Gastro enteritis in Dadu district and had asked the health Secretary Sindh to do the needful to control the disease and provide relief to the affected patients.
As such special measures were taken in this regard. Sindh Health Secretary Mr Shafiq Ahmed Khosa in his report has informed that within 2 days (from 10to 11 July) 70 patients were admitted in civil hospital Dadu. All the patient majority of which comprised of Children & females, were provided proper & maximum treatment and they were admitted in their respective wards. No outdoor Medicine were forced to be purchased by their attendants. The local administration has apparently tried his level best out of his limited resources to accommodate the victims of Gastro Enteritis.

MEETING OF MEMBERS OF COMMITTEE ON THAR COAL & ENERGY BOARD

KARACHI JULY 28: The meeting of members of committee of “Thar Coal and Energy Board” today discussed strategy to develop Thar Coal on fast track basis. The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister for Revenue Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Minister for Irrigation & Power Jam Saifullah Dharejo, Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh for Mines & Mineral Development Mr Khatoomal Jeewan, Syed Asad Ali Shah Member of the Committee, Chief Secretary of Sindh Mr Fazal-ul-Rahman, Sindh Secretary for Mines & Mineral Development Department Mr. M. Younis Dhaga, Speical Secretary to C.M. Sindh Mr. Agha Jan Akhtar and others.
The Committee observed that the present composition of the Board notified by the Provincial Government satisfies the objectives of the Provincial autonomy in the matters of Thar Coal reservoirs as well as ensures the vital support of the Federal Government to investments in Coal based power generation. The Committee also expressed satisfaction at the positive achievements of the federal and provincial coordination, which has resulted in arranging an Investors Conference at Washington, where Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah is representing the provincial interests /Government.
The Committee decided that in order to proceed on Thar development on fast track basis, the joint venture proposals received by the government of Sindh will be taken up by the Committee on Wednesday the 30th July 2008. The Secretary Mines & Mineral Development Sindh will make a presentation on various proposals on Thar Coal mining.

CHIEF MINISTER SINDH TO ATTEND CONFERENCE ON COAL & POWER SECTOR AT WASHINGTON DC USA.

KARACHI JULY 25: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah today departed from Karachi to Washington DC, USA via Dubai & London.
Chief Minister Sindh will attend conference on coal and Pakistani’s power sector on 28th & 29th July 2008 there.

CHIEF MINISTER SINDH STRESSES TO PROVIDE HEALTH FACILTIES.

KARACHI JULY 23: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has underlined the need to provide health facilities to needy and poor people of the province particularly in rural area where the patents are deprived of health facilities. This he observed during a presentation of progress and performance of Peoples Primary Healthcare Initiative, Sindh at Chief Minister House this evening.
He said that there is shortage of medicines, other facilities, while in many units, even doctors are not attending duties particularly in remote areas. He directed the health department to ensure availability of doctors and other staff members in all such BHU’s, Rural Health Centres and other hospitals so that neglected people are paid due attention towards their healthcare. Regarding occupation of many Basic Health Units by influential persons and other Government departments, Syed Qaim Ali Shah directed the Health Department to recover rental charges from those occupants from those who are occupying the Government Health Units or such person be prosecuted.
Chief Minister appreciated the performance of Peoples Primary Healthcare Initiative Sindh working in ten districts of Sindh by making 558 basic health units functional in ten districts of Sindh out of 859 BHUs. Syed Qaim Ali Shah emphasized the need to provide maternity facilities at all Rural Health Centres, as there is acute shortage of maternity facility in rural areas, and at many places, not only lady doctors, even male doctors are avoiding to perform duties in villages.
Dr. Riaz Memon, Project Director of PPHI, Sindh in his presentation informed that all Units given in ten districts of Badin, Kashmore, Khairpur, Larkana, Mirpurkhas, Sukkur, Mithi, Tando Allahyar, Jacobabad and Nausheroferoze under partnership basis have been made operational. He said that 80 Medical Officers at the cluster of two facilities have been appointed on PPHI contract in 9 districts @ the rate of Rs.24000/- per month.

He said that there are 1573 primary level care facilities in the province which include 116 rural health centres, 859 basic health units, 470 dispensaries 36 mother & child health centres, 92 others, 3 sub health centres/clinics, one Hoemopathic dispensaries, 4 urban health units and 41 unani Shifakhana’s. Dr. Memon informed that the Government of Pakistan has provided funding for Provincial and District support units worth Rs.249.00 million for three years, while Rs. One lac has been provided per BHU for urgent rehabilitation. He further informed that 69 female doctors, one each at five rural facilities each are working and couple doctors has been hired at Mithi, while maternal & child healthcare cover has been provided at 345 rural health centres. He added that deliveries & D&C services and free ultrasound facilities are being provided in some BHU’s while availability of medicines is being ensured.
The meeting was also attended by Sindh Minister for Health Dr. Sagheer Ahmed, Health Secretary Sindh Mr. Shafique Ahmed Khoso, Secretary to C.M Sindh Syed Sohail Akbar Shah and others.
