JULY 22:Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has strongly
condemned the assassination of Chief Security Officer
of Bilawal House Khalid Shahinshah. He has condoled the
bereaved family members and his friends & party workers.
Chief Minister Sindh has also directed the concerned Deputy
Inspector General of Police and police officials to immediately
arrest the culprits .

MINISTER SINDH ATTENDS BRIEFING ON IRRIGATION & POWER
DEPARTMENTS.
KARACHI
JULY 12: All out effort be made to keep strict vigilance
on flood protective bunds and other canals in Sindh province
while the supply of water to tail enders of lower Sindh
in Badin and Thatta districts.
This he directed while attending a briefing of Irrigation
& Power Department at Chief Minister House today.
He said that Aabkalani season has started and flow of
water is proceeding ahead. Syed Qaim Ali Shah further
said that directives regarding sowing crops in various
areas of province be followed strictly so as to save the
precious lands from salinity and water logging. Chief
Minister Sindh further directed that a scheme of lining
up of Rohri Canal be initiated and prepared so as to start
work early. Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that complaints are
received that inspite of directives, the WARABANDI in
canals is still continuing specially in lower Sindh.
Earlier, Sindh Irrigation & Power Secretary Mr. Shujauddin
Junejo informed that there is command area of 12.815 million
acres land in the province for which there barrages were
erected. He said that Sukkur Barrage was constructed in
1932, Kotri Barrage in 1956 and Gudu Barrage in 1963.
He said that there are 14 main canals, 109 branch canals,
509 distributaries, 902 minors, i.e total 1534 canals
having total length of 13,234 miles of channels with total
number of 42,268 outlets. Secretary Irrigation further
informed that as far as flood protection infrastructure,
there are 875 miles frontline bunds; 331 miles of loops
bunds and 119 miles of F.P Bund having total length of
1325 miles of bunds in Sindh.
As far as, the drainage system, there are 837 drains having
length of 4970 miles while there is length of 170 mile
sunder construction drains in RBOD-II. Besides, Sindh
Minister for Irrigation & Power Jam Saifullah Dharejo,
the meeting was also attended by Secretary to Chief Minister
Sindh Syed Sohail Akbar Shah, Special Secretary to C.M
Agha Jan Akhtar and offices of Irrigation & Power
Department.

SINDH BRIEFED ABOUT BENAZIR BHUTTO SHAHEED YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
PROGRAMME.

JULY 11: A high level meeting regarding Benazir Bhutto
Shaheed Youth Development Programme was held today under
the Chairmanship of Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali
Shah at Chief Minister House.

Mr. Nazar Hussain Mahar in his briefing informed that
under this programme, the Government of Sindh has chalked
out a programme to impart training to skilled youth in
various trades. He said that in all 40,000 youth will
be imparted training in various fields while the target
for one year training in different trades is about One
Lac Youth. It was informed that the contents of programme
will be brought before people through newspapers in special
supplements to be published on Sunday July 13, 2008. it
was informed that a very dedicated technical committee
has been constituted to implement and monitor the programme.
The meeting was informed that training be imparted for
various trades/fields in Agriculture, Health, Education,
Works & Services, Livestock & Fisheries, Labour
and Information Technology Departments.
Secretary Agriculture Sindh Sabhago Khan Jatoi infomed
that to provide state-of-the-technical training skills
certification courses relating to Agriculture for the
skill development of jobless youth graduates will be provided
skillful human resources for local and international job
market consumption and its possible inductions in public
