CHIEF MINISTER SINDH PRESENTED BRIEFING ON NEW SINDH ASSEMBLY BUILDING PROJECT.

KARACHI JUNE 30: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah today attended a presentation on construction of New Sindh Assembly building in the committee room of Speaker, Sindh Provincial Assembly.
The consultant of M/s Naqvi & Siddiqui Associates Syed Zia Hussain Naqvi while presenting the project explained silent features of the project. He informed that the existing Sindh Assembly was constructed in 1942 having capacity of 67-members and this was the assembly hall where resolution of Pakistan was adopted and the word of Pakistan was first presented in this historic building while the first Governor General Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah took oath of office after independence of Pakistan. Besides, Quaid-e-Millat Liaquat Ali Khan presented flag of Pakistan in this assembly hall.
The Chief Minister Sindh was further informed that the proposed new building comprises of five floors having capacity of seating of 500 members. The consultant informed that there will be press gallery having seating capacity of 250 pressmen/mediamen and seating capacity of 1050 visitors. He further said that offices of 12 Ministers alongwith their staff accommodation will be available there while there will be an auditorium of 250 persons with video screen and fire fighting system.
Chief Minister Sindh observed his dissatisfaction over design of proposed front elevation and stressed to modify the same keeping in view the historical buildings and structural design. It was proposed that the present Assembly Building should never be abandoned, and must be preserved, while all office corridors will be fully utilized.
It was decided that the present building will be used as entrance building as usual and existing cafe Terria will be utilized as Library-cum-Reading Room. It was also directed that architect will prepare revised structural designs and model of the same, which will be presented before committee for final approval. It was decided that a Mosque for Assembly Secretariat will also be added in the project while a Project Director was also be appointed. According to details, the approximate cost of project will be Rs.2.00 Billion and the same will be completed within two (2) years.
It was also decided that the ground breaking ceremony of New Sindh Assembly will be held on 14th August, 2008.

CHIEF MINISTER SINDH GIVES CHEQUE TO PRESIDENT OF THATTA BAR ASSOCIATION.

KARACHI JUNE 30: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah handed over cheque amounting to Rs.2 Lac to the President, Thatta Bar Association Syed Muhammad Shah for Thatta Bar at Chief Minister House this evening. General Secretary Thatta Bar Association Ghulam Akbar Uqaili, Senior Sindh Minister Pir Mazharul Haq, Sindh Law Minister Muhammad Ayaz Soomro, Sindh Minister for Cooperation Abdul Jalil Memon, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Mr. Waqar Mehdi, PPP Leader Mr. Abdu Bhai; Secretary Law Sindh Mr. Sadique Hussain Bhatti and others were also present.

President Thatta Bar Association Syed Muhammad Shah expressed thanks to Chief Minister for financial assistance / Grant on behalf of Government of Sindh.

Subject:- EXCESSES & FIR LODGED AGAINST JOURNALISTS OF PANO AKIL.

Last night a ticker was telecast by ARY-T.V Channel mentioning that some PPP leaders have got arrested some of Journalists of Pano Akil and FIR has also been lodged against 8-Jouranalists. Accordingly, the Director of Information Sukkur was approached and asked to send his report in this regard.
Regional Director Information Sukkur today telephonically informed that Aftab Soomro a PPP leader of Pano Akil and Mr. Saifullah Dharejo are two main leaders. Central Committee of PPP awarded MPA ticket to Mr. Saifullah Dharejo, Soomro tribe is familiar in area. Yesterday some people of Soomro tribe had a quarrel with few journalists. They lodged FIR against Journalists and some Journalists were arrested, and reportedly they were under excesses. Director Information Sukkur further informed that there are two Press Clubs in Pano Akil and local politics had created situation of division in Journalists also.
The bodies of Journalists forums had decided to launch campaign throughout Sindh province and will protest against such excesses and will demonstrate throughout Sindh Province.
Chairman, Sindhi Newspapers forum Sindh Mr. Noor Sindhi talked today & said that all forums of Journalists had condemned the incident, and said that all Journalists bodies will protest in all villages/towns/cities of Sindh. He stressed that action be taken against involved police officials.
In view of above circumstances, it is suggested that inquiry of the incident be ordered which will pacify the situation.

KARACHI JULY 03: Advisor to Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Manzoor Ahmed Watoo last night called on Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah at Chief Minister House. Both the leaders discussed the matters of mutual interest. They also discussed political issues particularly belonging to Sindh province.
